Does my dog need to be well-trained?
Not at all. Your dog doesn’t need any training whatsoever. The session is a relaxed, fun adventure where your dog can just be themselves. If they’re a bit wild, even better. I love capturing all aspects of your dog’s personality.
I’ve photographed every kind of dog. Brand new puppies who didn’t even know their name yet. Deaf and blind seniors. No matter your dog’s level of training, I’ll create beautiful portraits.
Can you photograph my nervous, shy, or reactive dog?
Without a doubt. I have a reactive dog myself, so I get it. It can be intimidating to try new things when you’re unsure how they’ll react.
Together, we’ll design a session that sets your dog up for success. Usually this means choosing a familiar location they already like, meeting ahead of time to build trust, using a longer lens to keep some distance, and reinforcing their bravery with plenty of treats and praise.
Can I keep my dog on a leash during the session?
Absolutely. Almost every dog you see on my website was photographed with a leash on. I seamlessly remove leashes in post-production, so you get elegant, natural-looking portraits.
Safety is my top priority. Keeping your dog on-leash ensures their well-being, helps us follow local leash laws, and actually helps us achieve those seemingly-impossible poses. If you’d prefer off-leash, that’s fine too.

What about cats? Can you photograph anxious cats?
Yes. Cats are naturally more cautious than dogs, and that’s completely fine. I take a bit more time to let them get comfortable before we start.
Most cats warm up to my studio quicker than expected. For cats that won’t tolerate travel, we will photograph them in your home where they feel safe. We can even photograph adventurous cats outside (on a leash and harness). No matter the location, I’ll always work at their pace.
I’ve photographed scaredy cats, senior cats, kittens, and everything in between. They don’t need to perform. They just need to be themselves.
Do you photograph other types of pets?
Yes. While most of my work is with cats and dogs, I also photograph rabbits, birds, horses, reptiles and other beloved pets. If you have a furry, feathered, or scaly family member you’d like portraits of, reach out and let’s talk about it.

How do you handle pets with special needs or disabilities?
We design your session to be fun and accessible for your pet. During our planning meeting, we’ll talk about any limitations they experience and any concerns you have. Based on that, we’ll choose the perfect location, date, and time.
Whether your pet has mobility limitations, sensory challenges, or typical senior issues, we’ll create a session where they can be themselves and have a great time.
Can you photograph multiple pets together?
Yes.
Whether you have two cats, three dogs, or a mix, I can create portraits of them together and individually. We’ll talk about the best approach during our planning meeting.

About Your Pet(s)

Sam was so incredibly patient with my two (one deaf with low vision) senior dogs.
“Sam captured my two dogs’ personalities perfectly. The photos are absolutely beautiful, something I will treasure forever. I loved working with Sam- she was so incredibly patient with two (one deaf with low vision) seniors, taking her time to catch them just as they were. It was such a low pressure, relaxed photo session- I don’t think my girls even knew they were being watched and the end product was spectacular. If you’re thinking of working with Sam, do it!”
About The Experience

How do I book a session?
Easy. Visit my contact page, fill out the form, and I’ll get back to you within one business day.
We’ll talk about you and your pet, and if we’re a good fit, we’ll schedule your Planning Consultation.
How long does the whole process take?
From booking to receiving your finished artwork, it typically takes 6-10 weeks:
- Week 1: Planning Consultation
- Week 2-3: Your Photography Session
- Week 3-4: Reveal & Design Consultation
- Week 10: Artwork delivery
Of course, every timeline is customized based on your schedule and artwork choices.
How do you choose the location?
We’ll choose it together during our Planning Consultation, based on your pet’s personality and our shared vision for the portraits.
You have three options:
Outdoors for dogs (and adventurous cats) who light up in nature. I have a curated list of favorite locations in the Saguenay region, or we can choose somewhere meaningful to you.
In my studio for a calm, controlled environment. Perfect for pets who need fewer distractions or for classic, timeless portraiture.
In your home for cats, elderly pets, or anyone who’s most comfortable in familiar surroundings. I can bring a mobile studio setup for a polished look.
What happens if the weather is bad?
I watch the forecast like a hawk leading up to your session. Cloudy, snowy, or even light rain can create stunning portraits.
But if we get snowstorms, heavy rain, or extreme heat/cold, I’ll contact you to reschedule ASAP. Your session fee transfers to your new date, so there’s no penalty for Mother Nature not cooperating.
Can I be in the photos with my pet?
Absolutely. I highly encourage it. The bond you share is special, and capturing it in photographs can be incredibly meaningful.
During your Reveal & Design Consultation (after your session), you’ll choose only the photographs you absolutely love. I’m confident you’ll cherish the photos of you and your pet together.
What should I wear for photos with my pet?
Wardrobe choices depend on a few key factors: who you are and what you feel best in, your dog’s colouring, the location and season of your session, and the overall feeling you want your portraits to convey.
Once we begin the process, I’ll guide you through this in more detail and share my input on clothing choices as much or as little as you’d like. My goal is always to help you feel comfortable, confident, and like yourself.
How much does this cost?
Session Fee: $290
Includes Planning Consultation, 2-hour photography session, expert guidance and posing, image reveal and ordering meeting, and custom artwork design.
Artwork Investment:
Images and artwork are selected and purchased separately after you’ve seen your portraits. Wall art starts at $700, collections start at $1,200, and most clients invest $2,200-$6,000 for their complete collection.
Interest-free payment plans are available.
Do you offer digital files of the photos?
Yes. Every purchased portrait includes both high-resolution and social media-sized digital files, along with your printed portrait.
Only want the digital files? With your portrait collection, you can waive the printed versions. The cost remains the same.
But here’s why I encourage you to print:
We all have the best intentions, but often these important images live in our computers and phones, rarely to be seen. We create these portraits to hang on your wall or be seen in an album every single day.
I’ve partnered with the best print houses in Italy and Canada to offer you museum-quality prints. Let me ease your burden and handle the printing for you.
